Pele's Ex-Girlfriend Escapes Death As She Films Mid- Air Terror As Plane Is Forced To Land After Being Struck By Lightining

An ex-girlfriend of Brazilian football legend Pele and racing ace Ayrton Senna caught on camera the heart-stopping moment her plane was forced to make an emergency landing after it was struck by lightning.

Singer Maria da Graca Meneghel, known as Xuxa, shared a clip online in which she appears wearing a yellow oxygen mask and clutching her dog Dudu.

The 53-year-old told fans she would be not arrive in time for an event in the northern Brazilian state of Piaui as the plane had been diverted to the capital Brasilia.

"Thank God we are all fine," she added.

Xuxa later told her fans: "It was very difficult, some minutes in which we felt very nervous.

"I was recording a rainbow with my mobile phone in order to send it to my daughter but I could not send it because I was too nervous.

"People here are very nervous, crying a lot, but I wanted to talk in order to apologise to the people from Piaui."

The video of the singer inside the plane was seen more than 472,000 times and had more than 7,000 comments.

Xuxa is a Brazilian TV presenter, film actress, singer and businesswoman.

She is also nicknamed by Brazilians 'the Queen of the Shorties' as she was very popular among children in the 1980s and 1990s.

She began a relationship with Pele in 1981 when she was just 17 after he retired from professional football.

They dated until 1986.

She later dated Brazilian Formua 1 driver Ayrton Senna and has been in a relationship with musician Junno Andrade since 2012.
