Greek-Nigerian Giannis Stars As Bucks Defeat Cavaliers

He’s been called a ‘freak’ because of his otherworldly physique and unlimited well of talent. On Tuesday night Greek-Nigerian Giannis Antetokounmpo used every one of his incredibly abilities to take the Bucks to glory as they beat the NBA champions the Cleveland Cavaliers 118-101.

It was only the third defeat this season for the Cavaliers but it came in a game that they were expected to win. They’ve had the beating of Milwaukee in recent seasons, taking last term’s regular season series 3-1. They came up against a different Bucks unit this time, one that is extracting every ounce of ability that Antetokounmpo has.

Let’s first look at Giannis’ stats for the evening as he scored 34 points, tying his career high, he also grabbed 12 rebounds, dished five assists, stole the ball five times and blocked two shots. He was a walking highlight reel, as he flew around the court, swatting shots, pilfering the ball and slamming home emphatic dunks. The fans at the BMO Harris Bradley Center were on their feet every time he cut to the hoop and slayed the Cavaliers defence and he did that time and again.

The ‘Greek Freak’ didn’t do it all on his own though, it was a team effort with him as the tip of the spear. Jabari Parker started and scored 18 points, and off the bench Michael Beasley and Greg Monroe scored 17 and 14 points respectively. Former Cavalier Matthew Dellavedova might not have had a stellar night on the scoring end with three points but his seven assists, three rebounds and two steals were crucial.

Cleveland were lead by LeBron James who ended the game with 22 points, four rebounds and four assists. Kyrie Irving added 20 points to the score and Kevin Love finished with another double-double of 13 points and 13 rebounds. But that was as good as it go for the Cavaliers as none of their other players managed to score in double-digits.
