NIGERIA WOMEN 4- O MALI WOMEN

Florence Omagbemi’s ladies are through to the semi-final of the African Women’s Cup of Nations after defeating the Harambee StarletsNigeria progressed to the knockout stages of the African Women’s Cup of Nations after flying past Kenya 4-1 on Saturday.

Asisat Oshoala continued her phenomenal form to seal top spot for Super Falcons in Group B, while Ghana’s 3-1 win over Mali in Yaoundé meant they progressed as runners-up.After playing a disappointing 1-1 draw against Ghana, Florence Omagbemi’s side were in blazing form as they eased past the debutants - thanks to goals from Ngozi Okobi, Faith Ikidi, Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie.

A draw at the Stade Municipal de Limbe would have ensured progression for Nigeria regardless of events in the capital, but fears of the defending champions facing the hosts spurred them to put in their best. With this result, the Super Falcons must negotiate their way past South Africa on Tuesday to reach the final where they will face the winner between Cameroon or Ghana for the top prize.
