Liverpool Are The Architect of Their Own Downfall

Mamadou sakho passed the ball to Gerard and then the unimaginable happened - Captain fantastic slipped, and gave Man City the title. The funny thing about that incident was that Liverpool were just two games away from claiming the title, and they let it slipped through their hands by losing to Chelsea, and playing a 3-3 draw with Crystal palace the next week, which ultimately gave Man City the trophy.

Liverpool can not lift the EPL trophy and we all know it. No matter how dominant and brilliant they are, they just find one way or the other to be the architect of their own downfall. Under Brendan Rogers they were blazing and destroying all teams they played against with Luis Suarez, Steven Gerard, Countinho, Sturridge, and Raheem Sterling's combinations tearing the premier league apart but they still fell off when it mattered the most.

Then the other season was truely a disaster and Brendan Rogers was shown the exit door, and right now they are at that point again with Jurgen Klopp, and that spirit is gradually taking a toll on the team. Last week defeat to Swansea really spelt it all out for everyone to see. Liverpool doesn't really have what it takes to win the EPL, even if they have it, they may still not win it.

Factors That May Hinder Liverpool From Winning The EPL Trophy this season

1. They lack resilience : Liverpool's inability to recover from their misfortune very fast is one of their big problems. They could be on a high at one point but when the troubles come, it is always hard for the team to get over it. Since the start of the year 2017 they have just won once out of seven games. They may have the amazing Klopp as their manager but killing this mentality psychologically should be one of his main priorities.

2. Weak Defence : they have been tagged the goal kings this season because of the way they score goals for fun. The way they outscore their opponents is amazing, but the way they also concede goals is also alarming. From their Goal keeping position which have been unstable so far, with mignolet and Karius prone to mistakes and also so many school boy defending from their defence, its very hard to see them win the league like that. Because their will come a point when the opposition's defence would be selfish and scoring of goals will be very hard. In those games they have struggled so far to win e.g Southampton in the EFL cup they lost 1-0 both home and away, and at Plymouth also they escaped by a 1-0 win after being held 0-0 in the first fixture, also at Manchester Utd it ended 1-1, and amazingly they were outscored by Swansea city. Funny enough, among the top six clubs in the title race they and Man city have kept less clean sheet.

  3. Lack of Consistency when it matters the most : Liverpool are good at giving their fans false hope by starting each season with a consistent display by blowing teams apart in a destructive manner but when it comes to the point of separating the men from the boys, they always find one way or the other to find themselves among the boys. Consistency matters the most in football, and let them ask the former EPL champions, Leicester City or the other champions before them, they will tell them, Consistency is the major key. Stay Consistent when it matters the most is the key.

  4. Luck is not always on their side : Another reason why Liverpool are finding it hard to win the league is that they are very unlucky. If Steven Gerard hadn't slipped they would have won the league, if they haven't have so many bad luck in games they should be topping the league right now. We can say a team is very hardworking in all ramifications but they also need some bit of luck to achieve their goals. Liverpool are unlucky sometimes and we all know it.

5. They have a lot of Quantity and Less Quality : its hard most times for one to mention the high quality player at Liverpool, apart from Coutinho who will probably make it into any first eleven of any big team in the world, who can you also call ? None. Sorry to say they are average, you may say its not an excuse but it is probably true. even though over average Leicester did it, but they didn't had the 99 problems Liverpool are faced with right now. Ask Chelsea , Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona , and the rest they will tell you that the best way to dominate is to possess quality.
  Quality sells and quality win.

Liverpool will continue to march on, and we pray they don't walk alone at the end of this season.
