Riyad Mahrez Wins African Footballer Of The Year Award

After claiming the BBC African footballer of the year last year, Riyad Mahrez undoubtedly scoops the Glo/CAF African footballer of the year award, ahead of Aubumeyang and Sadio Mane.

Mahrez who was in blistering form last season as he helped Leicester City to their first ever Premier League crown with 17 goals and 11 assists.

The Award which took place in Nigeria saw the Algerian dethrone Dortmund star Aubameyang who won the Award last year.

The 25-year-old, thus, becomes the first Algeria to win the prize since legendary Rabah Madjer in 1987.

The recipient of the award is decided by national team coaches and technical directors in Africa – with Yaya Toure and Samuel Eto'o the most-honoured individuals with four titles each.
